PEARL is a worship
team of four dear friends. In
the fall of 1999, Robin, Bonnie and Sherry were attending
the Wednesday morning Women’s Bible Study at Sierra Madre Congregational
Church. A
request was made from Hope Todd, the worship team
leader,
for more members, and each of us felt called to join. As we led
worship, our friendship began to grow, and we realized
how much we enjoyed playing and singing together. Then, we realized
we had a unique sound and decided to form a trio called PEARL.
The name PEARL was inspired from Matthew
13: 45,46: “And again the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking
fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold
all that he had and bought it.”
We also felt the name described our musicality,
as we seek to sound soft, lustrous and smooth;
intentionally layering our instruments and voices
for variety and beauty.
Throughout the past eight years, we have had many
wonderful singers and musicians assist us in
leading worship. Then,
four years ago, Tammy offered to become a part
of the Wednesday morning Worship Team. Not only was her voice and
natural percussive ability a great addition, but moreover,
we loved her heart.
Very soon, the trio became four. God added another layer and our PEARL was
complete. |
